Close Quarters Now Available For PlayStation 3

After the two-week head start that Battlefield 3 Premium members received on the PlayStation 3, the Close Quarters expansion pack is now available to download for all non-Premium PS3 members.

“Starting today, you can purchase our second expansion pack Battlefield 3: Close Quarters via PlayStation Store and the Battlefield 3 in-game store,” according to DICE on the Official Battlefield Blog. The download comes at the cost of $14.99

Remember, non-Premium Xbox 360 and PC players will be able to download the Close Quarters expansion pack on June 26. You can check out the launch trailer here.

Incoming Battlefield 3 Premium-Exclusive Double XP Weekend Event

Battlefield 3′s second Double XP weekend event came to a close last night, but if you are one of those few who simply can’t get enough and happen to be a Premium member, you are in luck.

Next weekend, DICE and EA will be holding yet another Double XP weekend event, but this time exclusively to Battlefield 3 Premium members. This will be the first of many Premium events as indicated by the Premium Calendar.

Battlefield 3 Second Double XP Weekend Now Live

Seemingly a day ahead of schedule, the Double XP switch has been flipped on for Battlefield 3 players across all platforms.

Our initial reports indicated a start time of early Saturday (tomorrow) morning, June 16th, but you won’t see us complaining. So, it’s time to get to know those Close Quarters map a little better if you’re a BF3 Premium member. Grab your SPAS-12 and get to work! Remember, you’ll see a 2x score multiplayer at the end of each round after receiving your in-game rewards.

Lead designer at DICE, Niklas Fegraeus, takes Battlefield 3 fans through some Armored Kill footage shown off at this year’s E3.

EA Set To Refund Australian Battlefield 3 Premium Members After False Advertising

The recent release of Battlefield 3 Premium across the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC has not come without it’s share of controversy.

It was recently reported that Australian Battlefield 3 Premium members were forced to pay above the advertised price tag in order to enjoy the benefits BF3 Premium has to offer. Originally advertised at a cost of AU$49.99, Australian PlayStation 3 users were, instead, charged AU$79.95 while Xbox 360 owners were charged 4,000 Microsoft points, an equivalent of AU$66.00.

Battlefield 3 – Tentative Future Update Including Balance Changes and other Fixes

DICE senior gameplay designer Alan Kertz is at it again, suggesting tweaks and balance changes that may make it into Battlefield 3 in the near future.

Publishing his suggestions on Reddit, Kertz is looking to tweak a number of weapons, including their recoil, range and reload times. He also mentioned a fix for the recently discovered AUG M320 smoke glitch that was introduced in the latest patch as well as a few vehicle changes.

Battlefield 3 Lead Designer Gustav Halling clarifies some exciting new details regarding the upcoming, vehicle-based expansion pack, Armored kill.

Great news for console players! “All AK maps have 5 flags on consoles,” according to Halling’s Twitter account. Playing 5-Flag Wake Island in the Back to Karkand expansion pack will probably give you a good idea as to the type of gameplay you can expect in Armored Kill.
