First Modern Warfare 3 Double Weapon XP Event for PS3 and Xbox 360

Infinity Ward has been teasing us about a Modern Warfare 3 double weapon XP event for a while now, and the studio finally decided to kick off the very first event yesterday.

“In celebration of E3, the developers are turning on Double Weapon XP for the first time ever! Rapidly level up your weapons and finally get that Extended Mags and Thermal Sight combo you’ve been waiting for,” announced Infinity Ward on Elite.

Keep in mind, you can use a prestige token to get two hours of double weapon XP, which would compound this week to net you quadruple XP for two hours. The event is now live on consoles until Monday, June 11th. Meanwhile, the PC version of Modern Warfare 3 has a regular double XP event though Monday as well.

PS3 June Patch, Xbox 360 Patch 1.15 Will Enhance MW3′s System Link

by Admin

The competitive Call of Duty community has been asking the team behind Modern Warfare 3 for proper LAN support since launch. Thankfully, it looks like Infinity Ward will soon flesh out System Link with “Competition Mode.”

Infinity Ward announced, via Facebook, “Competition mode is coming to System Link in the next Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 title update!”

The next update on consoles will include the following:

  • Ability to unlock all weapons/attachments
  • A greater customization of game modes

Competition mode will go live on PS3 on 6/14 with patch 1.15 and Xbox 360 in the June update, presumably patch 1.16.

Ex-Infinity Ward employee Robert Bowling did mention a few month ago that enhancing System Link was on the team’s to-do list, but it was further down the list.

patch notes :

Infinity Ward has published the fix list for the latest title updates for Modern Warfare 3 on PC and PS3. The PC patch is now live (version 1.8.423). However, the PlayStation 3 patch is not available at the time of writing, but should go live soon. Patch 1.15 for PS3 was originally announced to release in mid-June, but it seems Infinity Ward managed to push out the update sooner.

Here are the official patch notes:

PC Patch 1.13

  • Fix for mismatching files error between DLC and Non-DLC owners

PS3 Patch 1.15

  • 400 new ranks included in 5 new prestige levels
  • Dead Man’s Hand reduce explosive radius
  • Dragunov rebalance
  • Fixed DS/SRP issue with Specialist class
  • Blast Shield Buff in hardcore modes
  • Fixed an issue where some “Defense” kills were not incrementing on the leaderboard
  • Fix for rapid fire glitch
  • Increased damage reduction for Blast Shield in Hardcore modes
  • Fix for Kill Confirmed, update the player score before updating the team score
  • Competition Mode added to System Link

PlayStation 3 to get ELITE Content Drops 9 – 12 and Face Off Game Mode on the 14th

by Admin

undefined

PlayStation 3 will get access to a huge amount of new content in the middle of June. All players will get access to the brand new Face Off game mode for free in which small tactical teams battle off against each other in special maps. The Face Off game mode comes with two maps (Aground & Erosion). On top of that ELITE Premium Members will get their fix for June with access to the next 5 pieces of content.

Face Off has small maps, custom created to have sight lines and layouts to keep you the action quickly. Engagements occur quickly and regularly so you don’t spend a huge amount of time running around the map searching for the enemy.

The 5 new pieces of content (ELITE Content Drops 9 through 12) include 2 brand new Special Ops missions: Iron Clad & Kill Switch, 2 extra maps for the Face Off mode: Getaway & Lookout and a new multiplayer map: Oasis.

ELITE Premium PS3 members will get access to all the new content above on the 14th of June.

All non-premium PS3 players will get access to Face Off which comes with 2 free maps a day later on the 15th of June.

So basically theres a lot of new content on the way! Non-ELITE members will be able to get all the ELITE content when the second Content Collection Map Pack is released, a date has not yet been set. Keep these two dates free in your calendar people, the new content that is coming is absolutely brilliant! Face Off is addictive and will keep you entertained for days on end as you battle with or against your friends to gain the title of best player!

Modern Warfare 3 New Map Leaked: Terminal to return?

by Admin

Since the Modern Warfare 3 DLC season started, we assumed the Nostalgic Map Pack which was teased a while before had hit a brick wall. Then, the idea of the Nostalgic Map Pack coming to Modern Warfare 3 was kocked back even further when an Infinity Ward developer confirmed that the Modern Warfare 3 “Paid DLC” will only include new maps.

However new evidence of the map terminal has appeared on the Xbox LIVE network under theatre mode. A video (found below) reveals an online game of One in the Chamber being played on the Terminal map, it looks pretty legitimate considering it even has the picture there. Unfortunatley no one can view the video since we don’t have the map to do so but this could hint at the Nostalgic Map Pack being all to true!

The Nostalgic Map Pack was teased a long time ago, the 25th of November to be exact and showed off the following: “Check out the picture they posted below, it shows off 4 previous Modern Warfare maps which are as follows:

  • Terminal from Modern Warfare 2 (Set in an Airpot terminal, luggage and planes everywhere, lots of glass too!)
  • Favela from Modern Warfare 2 (The slums of Rio de Janeiro, lots of ground and rooftop battles!)
  • Shipment from Modern Warfare (The smallest Call of Duty Map you’ll ever see! It’s basically as square map with a few shipping containers in the middle! The most intense map ever!)
  • Crossfire from Modern Warfare (A map I personally loved, great for sniping along the large main road and great close quarters combat in this desert town!)”

Although the date on the Image is clearly wrong, the new video above does give it a little mode credability.

The full quote of the Infinity Ward developer who confirmed that only new content would appear in the DLC seasons is as follows: ““We’ll attempt to give you a better heads up on release timing moving forward. One of the issues we face is we sometimes don’t receive release date notification from the first parties and internal QA until late in the day.

I can confirm that paid DLC will consist of all new maps, missions etc.

Cheers,””

We find it unfortunate that no classic maps will be included in Modern Warfare 3 in the paid season, former Creative Strategist Robert Bowling thought classic maps should be returned in Modern Warfare 3 for free, as the developer said though “PAID” DLC will not include classic maps, that doesn’t mean we could get some classics released for free right!? (Highly unlikely but one can hope).

A little invesgatory work also leads to some information which could destroy all the information above though, we did a little digging around the user who uploaded the video to theatre (Coder123), although Xbox LIVE doesn’t give out a great deal of information the user is friends with two people called “Mods Activated” and “MW3 Mod Lobbies”. The video upload could be a mod that him or his team have been working on but it could be a bit of viral marketing from Infinity Ward to get the hype growing!

We really hope that some classic maps will return in Modern Warfare 3, especially if they are going to be free, it’d be such a great gesture on Infinity Ward’s part and bring back much love which seems to have been lost towards them from the community! What classic maps would you want to return in Modern Warfare 3?

Double XP until the 29th of May

by Admin

Infinity Ward has activated double XP across all platforms and all playlists yesterday in celebration of the Second Content Collection for Modern Warfare 3.

Content Collection 2 added 7 pieces of brand new content to the Xbox 360, including a new game mode called Face Off where small teams of players battle each other on specialist maps.

The great part about this Double XP is that it is lasting till the 29th of May! Thats over 140 hours of Double XP goodness so now would be the perfect time to try and get as far as you can.

How many prestige levels will you try and gain?

Official Call of Duty Face Off video makes you wanna play it more than ever

by Admin

We are totally digging the whole western theme of the video, it really shows how a new game mode can completely transform Modern Warfare 3!

Grab a friend and experience an all-new way to play multiplayer. The second Call of Duty®: Modern Warfare® 3 DLC Collection launches with all-new Multiplayer/Survival Mode Maps, Special Ops Missions and the debut of Face Off maps. Totally new to the franchise, FACE OFF distills all the fun and intensity of multiplayer into a new breed of 1 vs. 1 and 2 vs. 2 close combat.

Xbox 360 players have access to Face Off right now, PS3 & PC gamers will get it sometime next month.

Face Off is great fun, especially when you play alongside a buddy while your both mic’d up. It transforms Modern Warfare 3 into a truly tactical game where your decisions with your team mate truly do effect the outcome of the game, as do your weapons. Will you be facing the enemy with a Riot Shield Sniper combo or go along the less favourable route with dual akimbo FMG’s?

The full details and information about the Face Off game mode can be viewed here.
